Distillation of Horsemanship Concepts
The concepts that I see that are universal to good horsemanship can be distilled down to the following basic ideas:
- It's the release that teaches
- Make the right thing easy and the wrong thing difficult
- Isolate, separate, recombine
- The seven keys to success
- The nine principles of horsemanship
- The horse has a mental, emotional, and physical system and these correlate with respect, impulsion, and flexion
- Balance feels good
- Physical training exercises can be broken down to flexibility, mobility and collectibility
- Being able to see where the horse is and make adjustments on the fly to where you want the horse to be.
